Product safety (GPSR)
How safe are my items? 🤔
In compliance with the new European Union GPSR (General Product Safety Regulations), on this page you’ll be able to find information about the safety and risks of my ceramics and other artwork.
Ceramics
Glazes and (food) safety
My ceramics are made with commercial glazes (specifically, Mayco and Amaco glazes). As the final product, they are food safe unless specified specifically in the product title and on the product page.
Food safe ceramics
The food safe glazes I use have been tested by the manufacturer. They have passed standards for food safety (when used according to the manufacturer’s direction - responsibility for correct use lies with me). I apply them as prescribed by the manufacturer and fire them to their intended temperatures.
The glazes I use do not contain cadmium or lead (meets the FDA standards for food safe). The fired surface is chemically durable, and my food safe wares are free of pits, bubbles and crazing. They can be safely eaten and drunk out of.
Not food safe ceramics
The items that have been deemed not food safe are not meant to be eaten or drunk out of. If an item is not food safe, it will be clearly communicated on the product page with specification of the reason (this might be a rough surface texture, a clay body that hasn’t been vitrified or glaze use), as well as in the leaflet accompanying the item. These items are meant for decorative uses, such as to be used as a trinket dish.
Physical dangers
There are little physical dangers when the product is used as intended. Just like regular dinnerware, my ceramics can break when handled roughly (like when they are dropped, knocked over or bumped into each other). When this happens, the shards will be sharp. Please be careful when handling them!
Minimizing the risk
I use stoneware clay, which is durable, and fire it to vitrification. This means the work can handle a bit of stress and wear & tear. It will not break or crack easily when used correctly and mindfully.
Vinyl stickers
Physical dangers
Due to their size, the vinyl stickers might pose a choking hazard when swallowed or eaten (both the sticker and the backing paper). Please take care when using these stickers with children: don’t let children under the age of 7 play with them unsupervised and assist with sticking them on surfaces or items.

Wooden keychains
Physical dangers
Due to their size and small parts, keychains might pose a choking hazard when swallowed or eaten. When handled roughly, the chain might break and pose a risk due to sharp edges becoming exposed.
Please take care when using these keychains with children: don’t let children under the age of 7 play with them unsupervised.
Materials
Specifications of the materials and their properties:
Cherry wood (from local, maintained forests).
